ISG Jackson operates across a wide range of market sectors, undertaking the construction of buildings with many different uses. All of these projects require an understanding of how people will use the facilities, to allow us to create buildings that provide the best possible environment. In addition to the ultimate use of the building, all clients have different goals and needs. For us to succeed we must make sure that, as a team, we work with our clients to explore their requirements in detail, giving us the opportunity to utilise our experience and expertise to deliver solutions that fulfil those requirements. Best Value From this detailed understanding of our clients’ needs, we use the skills of our highly experienced teams to deliver best value. Our pre-contract and delivery teams work with our clients and their teams to produce best value solutions. At ISG Jackson we pride ourselves on the ability of our teams to come up with value engineering solutions that often make the difference between a project proceeding or not. Value engineering is not about cost cutting. It is about creating more value for the client. From our understanding of clients’ needs, our approach will be customised to their primary concerns. Traditionally these fall into the categories of cost, time and quality, but individual clients may have other areas key to them, that we need to concentrate on. Project Value ISG Jackson undertakes a full range of construction projects from £250k £15m Operating Area Managed from our headquarters in Ipswich, with operating offices in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, and Maidstone, Kent, our principal area of operation covers East Anglia, East Midlands, the Home Counties and the South-East. A high proportion of our business comes from long-established clients for whom we also work on a nationwide basis. Taking Ownership Each division is headed by a Director who has full responsibility for their part of the business. This allows them to focus on their clients’ requirements and to develop close, on going working relationships with them. Through this approach each division can offer a ‘cradle to grave’ service with continuity of staff throughout the project. Having established these four divisions, our teams can specialise in delivering specific building types. For example, we have individuals who are experts in the requirements of extra care facilities for the elderly, and other specialists with a deep knowledge of delivering educational facilities. Procurement As with the diverse range of building types we construct, we undertake projects utilising a range of procurement routes. There is no single way to procure a project that is right for all schemes - it is important to use the route that is most appropriate for the client’s requirements. To this end we have developed expertise in a range of methods, having recognised, for example, that the approach and skills required for a traditionally procured scheme vary from that of a design and build project, while the needs of the two stage tendering process are different again to those of a standard, single stage tender. Communication However a project is procured, we believe the key to success is for all parties involved to work together openly, with effective communication. Focusing on developing common objectives across the team allows us to meet the client’s needs, and adds value to the process. Design Management In recognition of the importance of design in the construction process, ISG Jackson employs eight Design Managers including four who specialise in Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services. This growing team has an in-depth knowledge of the processes needed to effectively manage the design of a project when it is our responsibility, or to add value to a scheme when working alongside the client’s team.
